Tsatsu vs. Bawumia 'Part One' Ends...But Tsatsu Hints Of Return

Counsel for the National Democratic Congress, Mr Tsatsu Tsikata has concluded his cross-examination of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the star witness of the petitioners in the election petition case. He has however indicated that subject to what will come out of the counting and auditing of the pink sheets by KPMG, he may have to come back and cross-examine Dr Bawumia on that. Mr Tsikata who has been cross-examining Dr Bawumia in the election petition case in the last 13 days of hearing, sent the audience in the courtroom bursting with laughter and relief when he announced at Tuesday afternoon's hearing, �My Lords subject to the work on the pink sheets by the referee, that will be all for this witness�. Mr Tsikata himself giggled as counsel for the President, Mr Tony Lithur who sat next to him also burst into laughter. In a related development, the Legal team of the Petitioners believes the end of Mr. Tsikata�s cross-examination of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia marks the �beginning of the end� of the matter. Spokesperson for the Petitioners' legal team, Ms. Gloria Akuffo told journalists after Tuesday's hearing that "its a great relief", adding that: "it marks the beginning of the end". The star witness of the petitioners, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been in the witness box for the last 20 days of hearing. Mr Tony Lithur, President John Mahama�s counsel cross examined him for four days whilst Mr James Quashie-Idun, counsel for the Electoral Commission also cross-examined him for three days. Hearing has been adjourned to Wednesday for counsel for the petitioners to begin re-examination of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
