The recent fire outbreaks, which ravaged some major markets in the Greater Accra Region, has been attributed to some unknown detractors who want to make the country ungovernable. A Security Analyst, Justine Bayor asserted that the labour unrest, increase in armed robbery cases, random killings and the frequent fire outbreaks in the country could be the �handiwork of some individuals in the society with the aim of �creating an atmosphere of insecurity.� �We have new and more volatile communities and regions; for instance, the Ashanti Region is currently the hottest region in the country, especially as we�ve witnessed in the first quarter, these cases of armed robbers as well as the political tension currently witnessing in the country; if we add these cases of fire outbreaks, which are seen to be cases of arson, then it is one thing that we should be very much worrying to us.� The President, John Mahama and the Ghana National Fire Service have both indicated that arson cannot be ruled out as the cause of some of the recent fire outbreaks in the country although investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of these fires. Speaking on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, Mr. Bayor alleged saying, �we do believe that there are certain people in the country currently who want to benefit from the situation and create an atmosphere of insecurity and thereby breach security and thereby create the inability to govern the country.� He further noted that if the security agencies are able to come out with a report which cites arson as the cause of the fires, �then it must be the saboteurs who are doing it, and that is because, these factors were linked to other things that are currently happening in the country.� Although he failed to categorically mention who the saboteurs may be, the Security Analyst cautioned that stakeholders and the society at large should �start thinking about the fact that certain people are probably at work. We can�t mention for now, but we should start thinking of certain things that are emerging over the period and start linking them.�
