Akyemansa NDC Youths Threaten Violence Over DCE Nomination

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) youths in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region have cautioned President John Mahama against retaining Tom Budu as the District Chief Executive (DCE). According to the angry NDC youths, Tom Budu has for the past four years failed to develop the area. They have therefore threatened to lock the Akyemansa assembly offices and chase the DCE, Tom Budu, out of the town if President John Mahama ignores their plea and retains him. Their spokesperson, Bukari Khalid, in an interview with Citi News, implied that the chiefs and people of Akyemansa were fed up with the DCE over his incompetence. The fact is that the chiefs and assembly members of the area met the regional minister last Wednesday and sent a signal that they will not accept honourable Tom Budu in the area because his four-year term is a waste of time. He added, The district capital did not see any improvement; peoples lives did not improve and the most annoying thing is that he made sure MASLOC loans were shared with his girlfriends and his cronies. Bukari Khalid accused the Eastern Regional NDC womens organiser, Madam Evelyn Korang, of conniving with the DCE to carry out his diabolic activities. He said the youths have officially petitioned the Eastern Regional Minister, Helen Adwoa Ntoso, who assured them of forwarding their concerns to the President. He reiterated their rejection of Tom Budu saying, We want to still repeat our standpoint that we will not accept any imposition of Tom Budu in Akyemansa and Madam Evelyn should mind her own business and never to meddle with our district affairs.
