We Are All Rotten Says Tony Aidoo

Dr. Tony Aidoo, Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency, says it is about time Ghanaians took stock of the direction of our nation-building. According to him, there has been the absence of a national System and values, around which we can all congregate and act in the public interest, stressing that recent happenings in the country cannot be in the interest of both the public and democracy. Speaking on Tea Cup, a segment of Radio Golds morning show yesterday, Dr. Aidoo suggested that there is a total breakdown of law and order in every facet of the society. A country of lawless people, people who do not respect the law, the Supreme Court is the last bastion of the defence of peoples rights and enforcement of citizens obligations and we see that within the Supreme Court the rot is very, very eminent. He claimed. To the NDC firebrand, if we live in a society like this, you begin to question the value of democracy itself, is democracy meant to facilitate our free choice of leader, freedom of speech and of association or is it meant to be a license for lawless behaviour? The Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency explains: Since the inception of the fourth republic, there has been a systematic degeneration of our moral society with the effect that nobody respects the law, adding that Even judges to whom we look for protection of our rights are rotten people, how do we build a society on this behaviour? For this reason, he stated I am afraid, you see it is about time this country took stock of the direction in which we want our nation building to go, I believe that what is happening cannot be in the interest of both the public and democracy. Dr. Aidoo is sure there is too much rot in the system, indicating that People are eager to come to power by hook or by crook and its not simply NPP Versus NDC politics, it is something that deals with the very foundation of this society. We act individually, like a fish the rot started from the head, right at eh inception of the fourth republic with the politician, with the academic elites; with our economic elites and with our religious elites, we are all rotten, he concluded.
