Ghanas Supreme Court is credible Prof Adei

Professor Stephen Adei, former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), says Ghanas Supreme Court is one of the most credible institutions in the world. He said over the years Superior Courts in the country had shown themselves to be very credible in justice delivery since various sitting governments had lost many cases before them. Prof Adei, who was contributing to a discussion at an Institute of Economic Affairs round-table on the theme: Post-Electoral Disputes Resolution: Fostering Peace, National Cohesion and Reconciliation after the Supreme Court Ruling," urged Ghanaians not to undermine the judiciary. He noted that over the years, rulings given by the Superior Courts in parliamentary election disputes had never attracted any mayhem; hence he was hopeful that the Supreme Court's ruling would not cause chaos. Prof. Adei said if there would be upheavals in the country in the aftermath of the ruling, it was most likely to be in Accra and Kumasi. He asked both personalities, President John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to, as a matter of urgency, come out and declare their acceptance of the ruling in order to calm down nerves of their followers as soon as the verdict was delivered. The former GIMPA Rector challenged the security services to work hard to prevent any eventualities. He said the two contending figures must keep to their promise of abiding by the Supreme Court ruling.
