Woyome Writes To Judgement Debt Commissioner

The beleaguered businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has expressed his readiness to appear before the Judgement Debt Commission to testify on the payment of GH51.2 million paid to him as judgement debt. He has, therefore, written a letter to the Sole Commissioner investigating all judgement debt payments, indicating that the commission should invite him to make an appearance to state his case. At a recent sitting of the commission, two companies involved in the construction of the CAN 2008 stadia, Consar and Michelletti, denied ever dealing with Woyome as a representative of Waterville Holdings Limited. The managing directors of Consar and Michelletti, Mr Stefano Ramella Pezza and Mr Jimmy Castagna, respectively, had told the commission in Accra on Tuesday, May 21 that they never dealt with Woyome in any official capacity as a representative of Waterville. Officials of the two companies, which were sub-contractors for Waterville during the reconstruction of the Accra and the Kumasi stadia, were subpoenaed to appear before the commission to furnish it with their contract documents and the payment schedules between them and Waterville. The commission also wanted to establish whether there was a connection between Woyome and Waterville during the period under review. In the letter to the commission, Mr Woyome said: In as much as I cannot suggest to the commission how it should go about its job, I believe that my rights have been trampled upon by the public comments of your official, Mr Dometi Kofi-Sokpor, which I am tempted to describe as being sub judice. Mr Kofi-Sokpor, the spokesman for the commission, is reported to have told Citi News that Consar and Michelletti had denied knowing Mr Woyome as an official of Waterville. Mr Woyome said: I have never stated at any forum that I am an official of Waterville and I do not believe that it is Consar and Michelletti who should attest to this issue. Indeed, it was I who invited Consar and Michelletti to be part of the CAN 2008 project. As stated in my letter dated April 2, 2013, I shall definitely appear before your commission upon the determination of the aforementioned cases which are before courts of competent jurisdiction. I shall help, with my fullest cooperation, your work in unravelling the root cause[s] of this whole issue for you to be able to give our dear nation a formula for the prevention of any future occurrence. Your Lordship, I thank you for your kind attention and would sincerely hope that this unfortunate situation shall not arise again.
