A member of the communication team of the Progressive People�s Party (PPP), Charles Owusu, has bashed the selective nature of BNI operations in the country. To him, the arrest of people by the BNI on trivial issues such as the sordid picture of President Mahama when hardened criminals are invading the country is a misplaced priority. He alluded to the mockery images of then president Kufuor and the several drawings of the Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo ridiculing his character which no arrests were made by the BNI to buttress his assertion that the security outfit is selective in its operations. Speaking on Hot FM, he stated that in as much as he agrees for investigations into the matter, the Presidency must come out to condemn the sordid pictures of every leader who has gone through similar humiliation before the commencement of investigation into that of President Mahama. He stressed that the action taken by the BNI in this has rather made an otherwise trivial issue gained worldwide acknowledgement. "...it is �nonsensical� to disgrace any leader in this manner and it must be condemned...the country should be prepared to focus on its development and not in this way which will retrogress the attempt by the nation and increase tension," he added. He reiterated that the country should focus on how to solve the electricity problems and the economic hardship and put such matter to rest. He indicated that this arrest might lead to the resurrection of dead issues which involves other leaders of the land and the disgrace will end up enveloping the entire nation.
