Two Grabbed In Highway Robbery

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has intercepted a truck carrying 550 bags of cocoa worth over a GH�100,000. In a report given by Peace FM�s Ashanti Regional correspondent, Isaac Owusu, the truck with registration number AS 4165-12 was coming from the Brong Ahafo Region, specifically, Hwidiem and was intercepted at Mfensi in the Ashanti Region. In a press briefing organized by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko, in Kumasi, disclosed that two out of three of the culprits have been arrested. The suspects; Kwabena Amoako, 26 and Amidu Razak, 22 are currently in the custody of the police; while Mohammed is on the run. According to him they had a report on Sunday that the truck was dispatched by Armajaro Ghana Limited, a licensed cocoa company to Tema in Accra for shipment. However, it was stopped by a group of highway robbers who took over the truck. The driver of the truck, George Boakye, fearing for his life left the truck and fled into a nearby bush. ASP Tanko indicated that a messaged was relayed to the police in various divisions in the Brong Ahafo region and the Ashanti Region and the car which fortunately had a tracking device was intercepted at Mfensi. The police are currently conducting investigations into the case and have called on the general public to assist in the arrest of Mohammed.
