National Security Must Apply the Same Machinery Used To Arrest Omari Wadie To Deal With Crime And Drug Trafficking

The rapid response used by BNI to arrest the Michael Omari Wadie over the sordid picture of President Mahama has been questioned by the national youth organizer of the Progressive Peoples Party. According to him the machinery and combined force from the airport immigration officers should be used to track down the drug traffickers in the country. Divine Nkrumah opined that with such urgency the BNI attached to the arrest of Omari Wadie, one would have wished that the same effort will be used to champion the course of fighting crimes, corruption and drug trade in the country, which unfortunately we are trying hard to combat. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that though what the former NPP constituency chairman did was not good, the President could have beckon him in court to defend himself and not to take the law into his hands to arrest him. He urged President Mahama to develop thick skin in order to do away with some of these things because there are certain things which will crop up whether he likes them or not; stressing that though the grimy picture of the President is wrong, there are tougher things the country has to focus on and deal with. He added that the arrest of Omari Wadie is a trivial of their duties because their work is to ensure the safety and progress of the citizenry and not to suppress the masses. According him there are hardened criminals in the country who are engaged in more dangerous things but then they have been allowed to live freely without any arrest. To him the national security has performed poorly in the safety of Ghanaians whose taxes are used to favour the President and Politicians at the expense of the masses; insisting that the BNI should have invited Michael Omari Wadie to interrogate him over the sordid picture of President Mahama and ask him to go home for further questions when the need arise without detaining him for such a long period.
