NPP Communicator: BNI Must Be Sent To Court for Unlawful Arrest of Omari Wadie

A member of the NPP communication team, Asamoah Gyamfi has described the action of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) when they arrested Omari Wadie at the airport as baseless, so has urged the BNI must be sent to court for the unlawful arrest of Omari Wadie. He enquired on what criminal code in the constitution the BNI based on to arrest Omari Wadie; adding that before his arrest the BNI should have told him of his crime before taken him to the cells. Speaking on Okay FM, he insisted that Omari Wadies arrest was not based on any law which he has broken; stating that if an arrest is made on suspicions, then anybody can cause arrest without any background to any law. He recounted that if nothing is done BNI will continue to intimidate everybody in the country just as they have done in the past against some journalists and politicians who speak against the NDC. He further said that if we are practicing democracy then it must be practiced well, saying that freedom of expression must be respected just as it is in other developed countries. According to him there have been many instances where Nana Akufo-Addos image has been doctored and there have been several publications in the NDC related newspapers which gave false information about Akufo-Addo but there was no arrest by the BNI. He reiterated that if we do not apply the law stop BNI, they will intimidate any outspoken person in the country who will stand against the NDC government. He called on the government to publicly rebuke the action of the BNI if it wants to disassociate itself from the unlawful arrest of Omari Wadie.
