Jealous wife in trouble with the law

A jealous wife, who allegedly shot and injured her rival with a locally manufactured pistol at Sefwi-Bopa in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District, has been granted a GH20,000.00 bail by the Bibiani Circuit Court. The presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Ankamah had remanded Paulina Latifa, 25, into prison custody when she made her first appearance on May 16. She is facing a charge of attempted murder but has denied that, and would re-appear on Monday, June 10. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raymond Erzuah told the court that the offence was committed on May 11. The complainant, Adwoa Nyarko and Latifa are married to the same man and live at Sefwi-Bopa. The two share a common farm boundary and Nyarko was working on her section, when the accused all of a sudden emerged and pulled a gun at her. Fearing for her life, she attempted to flee but Latifa fired the weapon and the bullets caught her in the left shoulder. Nyarko was rushed to the Sefwi-Wiawso Government Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment. Latifa went into hiding but was arrested after four days by the Unit Committee and handed over to the Police.
