President Mahama Call On Japanese Government To Invest In Ghana's Energy Sector

President John Mahama has called on the Japanese government to extend its investments into Ghana's energy sector. In Ghana, we are opening up our energy sector to private sector investors. Just this year, we signed an agreement with General Electric to put in 1000 more megawatts of power generation into Ghanas energy mix, President Mahama said. He was speaking at the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development Summit that brings together Heads of States and the private sector for dialogue. According to President John Mahama, his government is open to the option of private sector participation, in a drive to improve the energy capacity of the country. We have seen the beginning of an independent power mix in our country, as well as the beginning of independent power producers in our country. These investments are wholly private or public, private. I am very happy that President Abe mentioned that private partnership is the way to go. Indeed we have started to implement that in Ghana, he added.
