Felicia Frimpomaa Jailed Four(4) Years For Stealing Baby

The 40-year-old mother of three, Felicia Frimpomaa, who stole a four-month-old baby girl at Asamankese has been jailed four years with hard labour by the Asamankese Circuit Court. Immediately the presiding judge, Mr Yaw Attah Sampong, pronounced judgement, Frimpomaa broke down in tears and appealed to the judge to temper justice with mercy, since the devil compelled her to commit the crime. She claimed that she committed the crime to save her marriage. According to Frimpomaa, she had all her three children with a different man, but all efforts to have a child with her new husband had proved futile, for which reason she stole the baby to appease the man. The facts of the case, as presented by the prosecutor, Chief Inspector A.K. Benyingi, were that Frimpomaa and the complainant, Madam Adwoa Akyaa, the babys mother, lived in the same house at Asamankese. On April 10, 2013, Madam Akyaa realised that her four-month-old baby, who was sleeping, was missing. After the mother had fruitlessly searched for the baby, Frimpomaa accompanied her to the Asamankese police station to lodge a complaint. The prosecutor said the police searched in vain for the missing baby. Chief Inspector Benyingi said the police later had information that Frimpomaa had relocated to Akooko in the East Akyem District, where she was nursing a baby. Armed with that information, he said, a team of police personnel was despatched to Akooko to arrest Frimpomaa. He said the convict confessed to stealing the baby to pleaseher husband.
