GOIL appoints new Operations Manager

The Board of Directors of Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) has appointed Mr. Benjamin Atsu Torkornoo as Operations Manager, retrospective effective from May 1, 2013. Mr Torkornoo holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday by Mr Cyril Opon, Corporate Affairs Manager of GOIL said. According to the statement Mr Torkornoo has a lot of experience and international exposure in downstream oil refining and marketing. The statement said prior to his appointment with GOIL, Mr Torkornoo has held managerial positions as Managing Director of Total Eritrea Share Company in Eritrea. Mr Torkornoo�s profile obtained by GNA indicates that he served as Operations Director of Total Jamaica in Jamaica, Project Manager for Total in the Africa/Middle East office based in Paris, West Africa Cluster Assets Manager for Exxon Mobil based in Dakar Senegal, and West Africa Cluster Business Planning and Analysis and Controls Manager based in Ivory Coast. He was also the Lead Country Manager for Mobil Oil Chad/Equatorial Guinea, General Manager for Mobil Oil Sierra Leone, Operations Adviser for Mobil Africa, based in Paris Head office, and Operations and Engineering Manager for Mobil Oil Ghana. Mr Torkornoo was Mechanical Evaluator and Material Analyst for Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Processing Complex in Gulf of Sirt Libya, Senior Consultant in Flemborg Engineering System in Nigeria and Mechanical Engineer with BAB Consultancy in Ghana. According to GOIL Mr Torkornoo�s vast experience is expected to impact positively on the company�s operations. Mr Torkornoo is adept at managing operations for flawless transition during acquisition and mergers, and did so for Total in the Caribbean Island of Jamaica , providing the necessary expertise training and oversight for Operation Managers in Mobil Africa subsidiaries, network asset management, audit and controls and providing the necessary logistics support for market entry and acquisitions.
