Otumfuo Appeals To Teachers: Dont Let Our Rural Kids Down

The Royal occupant of the golden stool, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has passionately appealed to trained teachers to accept postings to the rural areas to support under privileged schools and children who through no fault of theirs are located in deprived areas of this country. The role of teachers in the country for national development cannot be underestimated but however research has shown that there are little or no teachers at all in some of the rural areas across the country. This attitude is bad and it should not be in anyway countenanced or promoted in the country, that is why i have set up a teacher's award to award teachers who are selflessly through the thick and thin have taken up teaching appointments in these areas, Otumfuo added. Delivering his Goodwill message on Friday at the Otumfuo Teachers Awards; he said that: it is often said that the reward of teachers is in heaven, but I believe that, if the success of a man or woman on earth is to be measured not by how much knowledge and wealth he/she acquired, but how happy a fellow human being becomes him/her then, I can assure you, you are among the successful persons on earth, because you have made many men and women including myself happy through learning and have thus fulfilled the wish of your maker. He also urged teachers who have come to the region to participate in the awards from various regions across the country not to relent in their selfless effort in providing education for the underprivileged in the rural areas as God will surely reward them someday, adding that his foundation will continue to support teachers who accept postings to these areas. Congratulating the awardees, he prayed that government will also continue to support these teachers and provide more infrastructures in these areas to ensure effective teaching and learning to help develop the educational infrastructure of the country.
