A class two teacher at Glorious Academy International School at Ahwia near Kumasi has allegedly suffered the humiliation of being caned before his students. Daniel Riis says he was whipped in his palm by the proprietor of the school, Ofori Manu, for reporting late on Wednesday. According to him, the unfortunate incident happed in the presence of the students numbering 700. Utterly outraged about the incident, the caned teacher said he would not accept a repeat of the proprietor�s action in future. Throwing more light on the incident on Metro FM in Kumasi, Daniel said teachers at the school were mandated to report to school at 7:00am. Daniel said he normally reported to school at 7:00am but had to report late on that day because he had to pay a visit to his sick mother who was on admission at the hospital. When he arrived at the school, the proprietor who looked sternly at him questioning him about what led to his lateness. Daniel noted that the proprietor then said he would meet me later on, so we discus what led to the lateness. But he did not meet me as promised. The class two teacher said on Tuesday, he managed to report at school at 7:00am as required but had to come late the next day because of her mother�s ailment. Daniel claimed that when he arrived at the school, the students were just leaving the assembly grounds. He alleged that Mr. Ofori approached him in an angry manner �ordering me to stretch my hand which I obliged.� Daniel said the proprietor who was holding a cane �then hit me with the cane in my palms. This incidence which happened in the presence of the students has humiliated the teacher.
