GHOSPA suspends strike

Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) on Tuesday suspended its strike action indefinitely awaiting the report of a sub-cabinet committee. In statement signed by Mr Franklin Acheampong, Secretary of GHOSPA and copied to the Ghana News Agency, expressed the hope that all stakeholders would embrace the stages of the process with urgency, openness and transparency required to ensure that the outcome of the report would be fair, sustainable and equitable. At the end of a national delegates meeting held in Accra, the membership of GHOSPA deliberated on the national strike over the grievances on the interim market premium and grade structure and we have become aware of the various pleadings by our dear patients, friends, families and all well meaning Ghanaians, it said. The statement also noted the on-going court proceedings of the National Labour Commission to enforce its ruling on the conversion difference and the report of the work of the sub-cabinet committee that would be out soon. It was in view of all these that membership agrees to suspend the strike indefinitely, it said. The statement thanked Ms Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Health for the progress made and entreated all pharmacists to resume work and wait the outcome of the sub-committee report. It thanked the media and Ghanaians for their support through the difficult and challenging times
