The Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, has expressed doubts in government�s ability to recoup monies from the Woyome judgment debt scandal. Mr. Awuku said government was already deeply immersed in the scandal that it was impossible to retrieve the full amount of the money involved without further indicting any more government officials. ��I am telling you; this NDC government will not be able to retrieve the Euro 47 million from Woyome and Waterville Holdings for the people of Ghana�, Mr. Awuku said on Okay FM yesterday, adding �the way government is deeply involved in this matter, there is no way even the president will be able to tell the people involved to pay the money�. He recalled that Mr. Martin Amidu�s decision to go to court unsettled a lot of people in high places in government to the extent that some pessimists advised that it was totally impossible to take businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome to court on the grounds that he had a contract with government. He said Honourable Ebo Barton Odro, the then-Attorney General and Minister of Justice who is now the Deputy Speaker of Parliament actually told Ghanaians that the country �Ghanaians do not have a case� and therefore showed disinterest in pursuing the case in court. On that score, Mr. Awuku mentioned the need for President John Mahama to apply the biblical King Solomon wisdom in recouping the money from Mr. Woyome. His other doubts however, were concerning the issue of the ability of Mr. Woyome and the other beneficiaries of the cash to repay the said amount. He said �For all you know, this money might have been shared amongst the beneficiaries and have been spent a long time ago�. Moving on, the NPP communications director believed strongly that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in no place to retrieve the money and banked his hopes on the NPP as the best party and government to retrieve that money. Mr. Awuku disclosed his party�s great intentions for the judicious use of the money for the building of hospitals, schools, and other developmental projects to better the lot of Ghanaians. He also disclosed his party�s readiness to award the anti-judgment debt advocate the highest honour should his party win the ongoing petition at the Supreme Court.
