Thank God For Ghanas Success Prez Mahama

The President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to refrain from pronouncing doom on the country and instead acknowledge the success that the nation has chalked up over the years. He expressed worry that many Ghanaians refused to recognise the numerous gains that the country had made in the social and economic spheres. He said those people criticised everything in the country and created a situation as if Ghana was in a crisis. President Mahama gave the admonition at a ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the Mount Horeb Victorious Church International at Mamfe in the Eastern Region. The anniversary was celebrated on the theme: "From Glory to Glory: The Glory of the Latter House shall be Greater than the Former". The church started with a prayer centre at Mamfe on June 23, 1993. Six years later, the centre was turned into a church, which now has 23 branches across the country, with one in the United Kingdom and another in Italy. President Mahama said God had bestowed His blessings on Ghanaians, saying, "God's favour is on Ghana." He said the progress made by the country was being acknowledged by people outside Ghana and wondered why many Ghanaians were refusing to acknowledge that. For instance, he said, whenever he travelled outside the country, many people approached him and told him that Ghana was, indeed, blessed with economic growth and political stability. The President said it was only when people showed gratitude to God for His blessings that He would continue to shower more blessings on them. "We have to appreciate His blessings on us and He will shower more blessings on us," he urged Ghanaians. Touching on the energy and water situation, President Mahama said his preoccupation was to address the problem on a short and long-term basis. "I am committed to solving the electricity situation so that we do not see any period when our nation will be plunged into darkness," he said. In his anniversary message, the General Overseer of the church, Prophet Paul Kweku Nii Okai, said the Mount Horeb Victorious Church had engaged in healing and deliverance in the last 20 years. He said the church was now poised to equip the individual to live a fulfilling life on earth and contribute to societys development while preparing him for eternity. Prophet Okai said the church, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Ghana Medical School, was to conduct research on psychotropic medication for patients with severe mental illness. He called for dialogue between the government and the faith community to find a lasting solution to the challenges of mentally challenged people.
