Kwesi Pratt: Would The UK Have Won All The Medals In The Olympic Games Without The Help Of Immigrants?

Kwesi Pratt Jnr., the Managing editor of the Insight newspaper has described as hasty and unfounded the proposed payment of a 3000 bond before entering the UK. According to him, the government of the United Kingdom only wants to make Africans and Asians pay for their inability to meet the needs of its people. what is happening is that, the ruling elite in Western Europe have failed to deliver. It has not been able to meet the needs and aspirations of its people. Unemployment is rising, per capita income is down, gross domestic product is down, the financial sector is collapsing. There is crisis in Western Europe. And I think that the ruling elite in the UK have come to the hasty and unfounded conclusion that migration is partly responsible for the problem that they are unable to deal with, he explained. Kwesi Pratt could not fathom why immigrants would be targeted in such a manner, giving the fact that Ghanaians and other immigrants are contributing substantially to the economy of the UK. He further questioned would they have won all the medals they won in the Olympic Games without the help of immigrants? Mr. Pratt made this submission on Metro TV in the wake of public anger over a pilot project in which few African and Asian countries would be required to pay an equivalent of GHC 9000 in bonds, before entering UK. However, a statement has been issued by the High Commission in Ghana, explaining that the UK Government announced its intention to consider the use of financial bonds as a way of tackling abuse in the immigration system. It said since then, discussions have been ongoing within the UK Government about how and when to implement the proposed trial.
