Takoradi Polytechnic Receives Award

Takoradi Polytechnic in the Western Region has received an award for being the best examination ethics in Ghana for 2012. The Rector of the Polytechnic, Reverend Professor Daniel Agyepong Nyarko, was also conferred the honorary Exam Ethics Master Marshal for his contribution towards ensuring transparency and integrity in the conduct of examinations. Mr. Ike Onyechere, Founding Chairman of the Exam Ethics Marshals International (EEMI), bestowed the honour on him and presented a plague with citation to the polytechnic for ensuring integrity, truthfulness, fairness and transparency in the conduct of examination. The Rector, Rev. Prof. Nyarko, who received the award on behalf of the school at a short ceremony, expressed appreciation to the EEMI for recognizing their efforts. He assured his outfit�s determination to maintain and improve upon it performance in the coming years. He indicated that the Polytechnic had a well resourced Academic Quality Assurance and Examination units, which oversee the conduct of examinations and commended them for their efforts, as well as the entire management and staff for ensuring smooth conduct of examinations. The Rector said examination was an integral part of every educational system therefore there must be strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding it so that quality human resources were produced for the country. He noted that a well educated human resource would enhance worker productivity, reduce crime, dependency and improve the socio-economic development of the country. Mr. Ike Onyechere, Founding Chairman of the EEMI, said the Organisation instituted the examination ethics concept as a result of rampant examination malpractices in various educational institutions. EEMI promotes integrity, truthfulness, honesty and ethical values in the conduct of examinations so that quality human resources are produced for the society. Mr Onyechere noted that the feat chalked by the Polytechnic would inspire other educational institutions to ensure integrity in the conduct of examinations.
