Police Parade Robbery Suspects (Photos)

ATO KWAMENA, a 35-year-old suspected armed robber paraded by Ashaiman District Police Headquarters among six other suspects, had been identified by his victim. The identified suspected armed robber was said to be involved in a robbery attack earlier this year in Ashaiman, robbing his victim at gun point. Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Tetteh Yankah, Ashaiman District Crime Officer, mentioned that the six suspected criminals were arrested in their routine targeted swoop to clamp down on criminals in the municipality. He said the suspects were given numbers with three neutral persons due to fairness, totalling the number to nine, and paraded them at the District command. The public was in the course of this given the opportunity to identify their assailants. He mentioned that during the exercise, Ato Kwamena out of the six, was identified by one of the victims as an armed robber. ASP Yankah said although the suspected robbers were arrested some weeks ago, it however became necessary for the public to be offered the opportunity to help identify them since they were directly involved in most of the attacks.According to him, the exercise, the first organised at the District level this year proved successful as one of the suspects out of the six suspected robbers was identified by one of their victims. The District Crime Officer said the remaining suspects would be granted bail with surety �since no criminal activity was attributed to them.� He explained that police would immediately commence investigation into the robbery attack and probably forward the docket to the Attorney General�s office for advice, before they would be arraigned before court. ASP Yankah noted the exercise would be sustained to ensure that Ashaiman got a good status in the country. He also called on the general public to furnish police with information to help curb crime in the metropolis.
