President Was Right In Appointing Us"

Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Eastern Regional Minister, on Saturday said President John Dramani Mahamas appointment of two women to head the region was in the right direction and not a mistake. She was speaking to Heads of Department, when she and her Deputy, Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, paid a working visit to the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality and the Upper West Akyem District at separate functions. Ms Ntoso said the President knew the two of them were very compatible and can work together as a team, hence their appointment. She asserted that the mindset of people that two women cannot work together should be erased since whatever happens to men could as well happen to women. It is no news if two women heading an institution quarrel just as it is no news if two men or a man and a woman manning a place quarrel, she said. For us, we are very compatible and staying focus on our mandate; nothing is going to bring any feud between us to sway us from advancing the Better Ghana Agenda for the people of the region, she stressed. Ms Ntoso said as a pilot project of the President, she and her Deputy were going to work hard at ensuring that their regime achieves more than what their male predecessors achieved, adding that, their era would see galamsey activities halted and natural resources protected. She urged the heads of department to help them achieve their goals by working hard as a team and in peace devoid of lackadaisical attitude at their respective sectors for the progress of the region. The President had appointed Ms Ntoso and Ms Ama Frimpong as Regional Minster and Deputy respectively, the first in Ghanas history where two women have been selected to head a region. Source: GNA
