Lead lawyers representing petitioners and respondents in the election petition hearing before the Supreme Court have unanimously approved of steps by the court to rein in wayward commentary and reportage of proceedings. The lawyers jointly addressed the media Tuesday afternoon shortly after the court rose for a short break ahead of hearing the case of three individuals it has summoned http://graphic.com.gh/Politics/atubiga-two-others-face-justice-atuguba-at-supreme-court-today.html for comments thought to be infractions of the court�s express instructions, saying they support fully the court�s intervention. Mr Stephen Atubiga, a member of the communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC); Kwaku Boahen, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser also of the NDC and Mr Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper are to face the court when it resumes after they were mentioned last Thursday to appear before the court. But the lawyers � Tony Lithur, James Quashie-Idun, Tsatsu Tsikata for the respondents and Philip Addison for the petitioners expressed their trust in the judicial system and warned party followers to refrain from ill-disposed commentary and rather allow the judges to determine the case. The lawyers only last week had to intervene and plead for mercy when the court hauled New Patriotic Party deputy communications director, Sammy Awuku before it for comments the court deemed to be overstepping the bar of fair comments allowed on proceedings.
