Lawyers Back Supreme Courts Steps To Sanitise Commentary

Mr Stephen Atubiga, a member of the communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC); Kwaku Boahen, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser also of the NDC and Mr Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper are to face the court when it resumes after they were mentioned last Thursday to appear before the court. But the lawyers Tony Lithur, James Quashie-Idun, Tsatsu Tsikata for the respondents and Philip Addison for the petitioners expressed their trust in the judicial system and warned party followers to refrain from ill-disposed commentary and rather allow the judges to determine the case. The lawyers only last week had to intervene and plead for mercy when the court hauled New Patriotic Party deputy communications director, Sammy Awuku before it for comments the court deemed to be overstepping the bar of fair comments allowed on proceedings.
