Police Investigate Soldier�s Mysterious Death

The Accra Regional Police Command is investigating the untimely death of a 27-year-old soldier who died after taking a glass of fruit juice at a colleague�s birthday party over the weekend in Accra. Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Frank Adufati, the Accra Regional Crime Officer, confirmed the story to The Finder yesterday in Accra. He said the deceased (name withheld), a soldier at 6BN in Tamale, was on a course at Burma Camp in Accra. He said on Sunday June 30 at about 9am the deceased attended a birthday party of a colleague at 5BN Burma Camp, where the suspect offered the deceased a glass of fruit juice. The suspect, according to Chief Superintendent Adufati, said the deceased, after taking the juice started complaining of stomach ache. He was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital, where he died shortly on arrival. He said the suspect reported the incident to the Cantonment Police and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Preliminary investigations revealed that earlier that day the deceased had cooked and eaten rice and stew with a colleague before attending the party. Meanwhile the leftover food and the fruit juice has been retrieved and preserved for toxicology examination.
