Kumasi Asante Kotoko Crowned Ghana League Champions

Kotoko were crowned Ghana League Champions on Sunday after thrashing AshGold 3-0 in their coronation match at the Baba Yara Stadium. Ecstatic supporters of the Porcupine Warriors celebrated with gusto as they were handed the countrys most prized football title at their home grounds. They fittingly beat their regional rivals AshantiGold to crown their impressive season with coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani in charge. The Porcupine Warriors won their 22nd elite division league title after a 1-0 triumph over Amidaus Professionals at the Tema Stadium last month but had to wait until SUnday before they were crowned. Players and officials of the team were handed medal before captain captain Brenya lifted the trophy to the delight of their fans. The Porcupine Warriors have retained the top flight title they won last season to make it their 22nd. Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, who came under immense pressure after crushing out from the Caf Champions League this season, has won his debut Premier League trophy with the Porcupine Warriors and could be in for the double since they have booked a final berth with Medeama in the MTN FA Cup on July 14. Kotoko finished three points clear after close challengers Berekum Chelsea lost 2-1 at the Kpando Sports Stadium to Heart of Lions. The Reds finished the season on 56 points whiles the Blues trailed them with 53 points followed by Ebusua Dwarfs and Medeama in that order with Hearts ending fifth.
