TV3 Denies Akweley's Allegations

TV3 Network has reacted to some allegations made by Akwaley of Ghana's Most Beautiful against the company and some of its employees on Peace FM's "Entertainment Review" program. The company has issued a statement to this effect and we bring you the unedited press statements below: "TV3, Ghanas leading TV network has assured the public that it will continue to maintain the quality and integrity of Ghanas Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant as it pursues its objectives and philosophy of projecting Ghanas Most Beautiful queen/winner. In this regard, TV3 completely rejects the false and misleading statements made about the contest by Jacqueline Akweley Mantey, GMB Season V runner- up, in recent media interviews even as she admits the positive value of the show and the benefits she has derived from the GMB platform and its accompanying public exposure she is enjoying today. TV3 further requests our stakeholders and the public to disregard her false statements We also wish to state categorically that winners in the beauty pageant are genuinely selected based on accurate results structured on credible systems that have been put in place to ensure fairness and transparency. Selection of winners is based on their performance, judges score and the votes from the public. An external source- Mtech (a mobile content provider) provides text messaging voting results which are verified by TV3s IT department with the Risk Manager, Brands Manager and the executive producer/producer before they are sent to the presenter for final declaration. Weekly votes are displayed on air on Fridays during Spotlight and on the Sundays after each eviction These processes and systems make it impossible for contestants, friends of contestants, organisers, contractors or any other persons to circumvent the system in favour of any person. They do not allow results to be skewed in favour of one particular individual/contestant and we confidently state that the contestant in question got her due position in the realty show. At the beginning of every season of GMB, contestants are taken through the rules and the format of the show. The processes are explained to them clearly and thoroughly. The contestants execute agreements with TV3 which stipulate the obligations of the contestants and TV3. Their chaperone is also mandated to organize meetings twice daily with the contestants and, should there be any concerns or complaints, the chaperone is required to inform the designated officials of TV3 for immediate resolution. TV3 was unaware of any complaint from the contestant in question before the declaration of the winner of the 2011 Season V edition of GMB when the contestant alleged that she had been cheated and got very upset about not being declared the ultimate winner. She refused to return to the reality complex after the final show and also refused to execute the agreement for finalists of the GMB contest. It is also important to emphasize that TV3 is officially unaware of the contestants contract with Zoomlion That was a private arrangement between the contestant and Zoomlion and TV3 was under no obligation to seek contracts for the social projects of contestants. TV3, therefore has no reason either to recommend or incite the abrogation of the contract with Zoomlion. The recent interviews by the contestant in question are regrettable. TV 3 once again assures its stakeholders, viewers and the public of continued transparency, integrity, objectivity and fair play in the conduct of its reality shows as a whole and the GMB in particular. TV 3 remains committed to offering GMB platform to Ghanaians, particularly the youth to enable them unearth their skills and talents, project the countrys culture and showcase the beauty of the Ghanaian that reflect the total beauty and hospitality of the country".
