Row Over Radio XYZ Deepens...As Titus Glover Warns Col. Attachie

Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Tema East has sent a strong warning to Col. Lawrence Attachie, a former military aide to late Mills, to stay away from private radio station XYZ 93.1 Fm or face the wrath of MPs. Col. Attachie is currently allegedly locked up in a fierce fight with the children of the late David Lamptey over the radio station, which has within a very short time, established itself as one of Ghanas most influential news and current affairs stations. The Military man, who was a friend to the late Philanthropist and Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, is laying claim to 10 percent shares in the private radio stations. Mr. Lampteys surviving children, led by his first Child Cynthia Lamptey, have expressed interest in running their fathers radio station until a legal dispute over his entire estate is determine by the court. The children however say Col. Attachie is obdurate in releasing documents of the station to them with reason that he owns the radio station. Speaking to the stations Breakfast Show programme on Friday July 5, 2013 Mr. Titus Glover, who was hosted in the studio, said he felt saddened and angered when he read from the sections of the media a few days earlier that Col. Attachie was laying claim to the vibrant radio station, which has proved to be very neutral, fair and highly professional, despite the fact that its owner, the late David Lamptey, was a staunch financier of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC). The NPP legislator retorted: I want to appeal to man, that soldier, he should leave this property alone other than that we will all join forces and fight him because where is David to fight for himself.. he should stay away other than that well all join the family, the wife, the children, the management, the Board and the staff of this company and fight him. We are more than him. According to Mr. Titus Glover, I wept [when I read the story], wondering whether Col. Attachie would have had the temerity to claim ownership of the radio station if David Lamptey were alive. The issue should not be handled as an internal matter within the radio station because it concerns us, he said, adding that: He should not come. If he is listening to me he should listen to me . He should not attempt.
