People Kissing Asomdwehene

With a couple of days to go for the first anniversary celebration of the death of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, the cloth, Asomdwehene, is said to be receiving lots of patronage. It is selling fast, according to market women. Speaking to TV3s Kweku Temeng, market women expressed their excitement at the patronage of the cloth, agreeing that even last years design popular design Se Asa, which was massively bought for the funeral, is receiving marginal patronage. It is called Asomdwehene so they are coming in one by one. The one I got last year is even finished, a market woman, Beatrice Odamtey, said on TV3. They like it. Everybody likes it. Some kiss the cloth. People from different quarters of the country appreciate the cloth for the one year, she added. According to Mrs Odamptey, the cloth was originally selling at GH60 but has been increased by GH5. Another seller, Mrs Felicia Dadzie Amoah, however, complained that last year's piece that had the National Democratic Congress (NDC) emblem is not being accepted by buyers, who rather stand those with the coat of arms. A week-long programme has been scheduled to mark the one year anniversary of the death of late President John Evans Atta Mills. It started on Sunday, July 21, 2013 with a choral concert at the National Theatre. Monday will see the first of a series of annual lectures to commemorate the former president. It is scheduled to take place at the Accra International Conference Center. A special ceremony is scheduled to be held at exactly 2:15pm at the Asomdwe Park on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 to honour the late president. It will be graced by President John Dramani Mahama and other state functionaries.
