Although death is inevitable, the sudden demise of genial herbalist and gospel songstress of Semenhyia Herbal Clinic has left a sour taste in the mouth of many.
Maame Semenhyia was reported to have died after suffering from illness. Her death has brought a stiff scuffle between one of Ghana�s most famous movie actor, Kweku Manu and her family members; for reasons best known to the two parties.
A spokesperson who spoke on behalf of the family on Okay FM disclosed that Maame Semenhyia had shown grave signs of depression after her husband passed on some months ago. The condition according to Kwame Ofosuhene Amoah, grew worse and medical doctors had to warn Maame Semenhyia to stay off work and have enough rest.
It was during this time that Kweku Manu showed up to and informed the family he could help Maame Semenhyia through intercessory prayer.
�We were all at home on 25th May when Kweku Manu visited us to inform us he has head Semenhyia is sick. We even didn�t recognize him as the movie actor; we thought he was coming to buy some herbal medicine from Semenhyia. But he claimed Semenhyia had been good to him in the past and was here to come. He even passed the night in her house� later we saw Kweku Manu in Semenhyia�s Land Cruiser waiting to drive them to an unknown location�, he said.
According to Ofosuhene Amoah, Kweku Manu gave them the assurance that he is a �star� and would avail himself for any scrutiny should anything happen to Maame Semenhyia. The family didn�t take the message lightly and later followed up to know where Kweku Manu had sent her to.
After going through all the hassle of finding Maame Semenhyia, they managed to find the place Kweku Manu housed her but drew bitter reaction. Mr. Ofosuhene Amoah claims that Kweku Manu labeled them �witches� when they approached him to question him over his intention to keep Maame Semenhyia at a prayer camp.
After weeks of housing the former herbalist at a prayer camp, Kweku Manu is said to have sent his friends to come and inform Semenhyia�s family that she has kicked the bucket.
But the family insist Kweku Manu should be held responsible for her death because �a postmortem report showed that her kidney had swollen because she had stopped taking the medicines doctors prescribed for he. Kweku Manu also stopped her from taking her meds and even flushed it in toilet�.
