Man Sentenced For Stealing Judges Goat

A 22-year-old man who stole a pregnant goat belonging to the Obuasi Circuit Court Judge has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by the Obuasi Magistrates Court. The convict, Francis Bosombra, was convicted on his own plea of guilty. Narrating the facts of the case, the prosecutor, Inspector Albert Anani, told the court presided over by Mr Frank Hayo that around 9.00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, Bosombra went to the house of one Taylor with a goat in a sack, which he said was for sale. Inspector Anani said meanwhile, Mr Taylor, who was the caretaker of the Circuit Court judges goats, had been going round looking for that goat since it did not return to its pen on Sunday evening. He said when Bosombra removed the goat which had a mark on its ear from the sack Taylor quickly identified it as that of his masters. He further said that when Taylor realised that the goat was the stolen one, he raised an alarm and the convict took to his heels. Inspector Anani said some people around chased the convict, arrested and handed him over to the Obuasi Central Police.
