A man and his two daughters in Kumasi have miraculous survived a frightening vehicular accident to the surprise of eye witnesses. The man (name not unknown) was returning from Sunday church service with his two daughters when the calamity struck them. Unexpectedly, chains binding huge timber logs on a truck which was passing by got torn so the logs fell and trapped the man�s car. People at the scene initially feared that the man and his two daughters aged 12 and 26 years old, respectively, had perished. But surprisingly, all the three persons on board with the damaged Opel Vectra car with registering number, AS 6320-R, escaped with slight injuries. Richard Karikari of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) who witnessed the horrific spectacle said �it is God who saved the man and his daughters.� He noted that the Opel Vectra was from the Anloga Junction area heading towards Asokwa when the traffic light signalled red for the driver to stop. Minutes after the Opel Vectra stopped, the truck heavily ladened with timber, with registration number AS 6742-E, appeared at the scene from the same direction. The driver of the truck upon seeing the red light applied the brakes but the truck failed to stop. The driver of the truck in an attempt to avert hitting the Opel Vectra from behind ascended the central reserved on the road with his truck. But sadly, the chains tied to the huge timber logs on the truck got torn so the logs fell on the Opel Vectra, trapping the people in it. Karikari said people that witnessed the gory spectacle started wailing because they feared that the people in the car would definitely die. But to their delight, the man and his two daughters on board the car were rescued from the huge timber logs, still alive. Karikari noted that apart from the 26-year-old lady who suffered some spinal defects, the other two people in the car, escaped unhurt. He said the three people on board with the car were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Karikari recounted how they struggled before they removed the huge logs from the road to enable other cars to move. He appealed to the authorities concerned to properly equip the NRSC and Ghana National Fire Service so that they could deal with disaster of such nature. Karikari said it took the intervention of a timber company before the huge logs could be removed from the road after the accident.
