Support Any Government Nominee-Mr Asamoah

Mr Alex Asamoah, the out-going New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has appealed to the assembly members to support anyone the President would appoint to occupy the seat to ensure rapid development and unity in the area. He told them not take undue advantage of the powers they have to confirm a Presidents nominee to hold the assembly to ransom. Mr Asamoah said the situation where assembly members took huge sums of money from a nominee before confirming that person as a Metropolitan/Municipal/District Chief Executive was not the best. Mr Asamoah, who was speaking to some members of the Assembly in Koforidua, said politics was not an avenue for riches and that anyone who was given the opportunity to serve in any office must do so with honesty and commitment to at least prove that there are men of integrity to propel Ghanas development. He appealed to the assembly members to live by the truth because truth stands at all times and urged them to do away with petty-squabbles and focus on their mandate of representing their constituents with zeal and dedication. He said serving under former President Jerry John Rawlings, late President John Atta Mills and President John Dramani Mahama in that same capacity was a privilege that he would forever remain grateful for. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency later, Mr Asamoah said just like all his predecessors, he might not have changed the entire municipality but he believed that he had contributed his quota to the improvement and development of the area. He said he was leaving office with a spirit of satisfaction and thanked all the assembly members, staff and stakeholders who supported him in office and expressed the hope that his successor would receive same support to continue where he left off.
