As part of this year's International Youth Day, which is on the theme "Youth Migration: Moving Development Forward�, the youth have been asked to be hardworking and eschew �easy and quick ways of making money� A former National Youth Organiser of the Convention People�s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bonfeh, popularly known as Kabila is unhappy with the way how the youth of today appear to be spearheading most of the criminal activities in the country, adding, �the bad name is enough, wake up and do something good for yourself�. The International Youth Day is on August 12 each year and it is meant for governments and others worldwide to draw attention to youth-related issues. Contributing to panel discussion on Peace FM�s morning show Kokrokoo, Monday, Kabilla said the youth is a vital part of development in every country and even though leaders in this country have disappointed them in terms of opportunities which hitherto were available, (during the days of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah), �there is the need to do something for yourself; leave a legacy for future generations to come and see�. �The opportunities that were available for the youth at the time of Kwame Nkrumah are now not available. In terms of education; now the education system has been messed up; it is sinking. However, sometimes, it is not the education or the training but how hardworking you (youth) will be and that will determine your future. There are some who are born into riches but nothing good comes out of them and some in poverty and they arise to higher heights�I don�t think nowadays youth are hardworking; a few are, but others are looking for quick ways of making money; pushing a lot of the youth into stealing, cocaine dealing and other vices�we are motivated by things that don�t last. Leaders may have disappointed us but the burden lies on us to work hard and make it,� he said.
