Opoku Rejoins Kotoko For 60,000 Cedis

Midfielder Jordan Opoku has rejoined Asante Kotoko from Berekum Chelsea for a whopping 60,000 cedis for the upcoming season. The 29-year olds second stint with the Porcupine Warriors was made possible following an agreement between the two parties. A trusted source told GNA Sports that the midfielder is expected to undergo a mandatory medical with the Porcupine Warriors on Wednesday before penning the deal. The highly rated Opoku was a regular face on the wanted list of players of Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani ahead for the 2013/2014 season and his experience will be vital for next years CAF Champions League. The midfielder, a product of the Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy had a successful stint during his maiden tenure with the Porcupine Warriors from 2009 to 2011, serving as one of the main pillars during the Bashir Hayford era. After a brief stint with Albanian side, Dinamo Tirana, Opoku surprisingly joined Berekum Chelsea after a return to Kotoko fell through. At Chelsea, he proved that he was nowhere off his prime, anchoring the teams midfield in their near successful campaign in the CFA Champions League in 2012. Opoku, a veteran on the domestic front was also a member of the local Black Stars squad that won silver at the maiden African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cote dIvoire in 2009. He captained the Feyenoord Academy during their abortive campaign in the top flight six years ago. Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Stephen Oduro has also been handed a two-year deal with Kotoko. Oduro, a club icon was inactive last season after shockingly being declared surplus to requirements by the previous Management of the club. This will be his third stint with the club since joining in 2009.
