Deputy Minister: Ghana-Turkey Match Was Used To Assess New Players

Deputy Youth and Sport Minster, Joseph Yamin has said that the Black Stars used the game against Turkey to prepare for the World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo (the Copper Bullets) of Zambia and to assess new players. According to him, the Ghana-Turkey friendly was an important game to help head coach Kwesi Appiah access his players ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Zambia. A second half spectacular performance by Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan inspired the Black Stars to a 2-2 draw with Turkey on a FIFA friendly day in Istanbul. Speaking on Adom FM, the Deputy Minister said, The match was to access new players for the team. Our number one goalie, Adam Kwarasey was out of the team for some time due to an eye surgery and he has come back to action. His performance must be accessed once again to confirm that all our goalkeepers are equally fit for the game ahead. Ghana will come face to face with Zambia on the 6th of September 2013 in Kumasi to determine which country will book a place in the next round of the 2014 World Cup qualifier to be hosted by Brazil in 2014.
