The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied media reports that the party has appointed shadow Ministers as it awaits the verdict of the Supreme Court on the election petition. According to the Daily Post newspaper, the appointments were made at a recent meeting held by the party. Responding to the newspaper publication, Deputy Director of Communications of the party, Sammy Awuku said the party�s presidential candidate will only do so when the Supreme Court rules in its favour. �First of all, I don�t know where that meeting took place. We�ve not had any meeting to that effect, appointing people to such positions. It is the sole prerogative of the President� and so when the verdict goes in our favor, the president-elect will have the opportunity to fulfill that constitutional mandate.� He insinuated that the publication �is coming from these NDC newspapers; always finding ways and means to probably cause problems in the NPP.� Mr. Awuku also shared with Citi News how the party is preparing to receive the verdict of the Supreme Court. According to him, the party is preparing feverishly ahead of the delivery of the verdict �by organizing workshops, sensitizing our supporters through the regions and constituency executives to trickle down so that the party can be in good shape and in a good mood for the verdict.� He also mentioned that the NPP has on several occasions demonstrated its commitment to the rule of law by expressing its belief �that the final arbiter in the election dispute is the court of law and so we have taken our case there and also hoping that justice will be done and also justice will be fair to the Ghanaian people.�
