Papaase Chief Dragged To Court

The Chief of Papaase No 2, Isaac Kojo Banafo II, has been dragged to the Cocoa Affairs Court 4 by an Estate Developer, Nicholas Baffoe, for allegedly selling fifty plots of land he sold to the letter, to another individual, after he had left for the United State to look for funds to develop the land. The chief sold, who sold the said land to Nana Baffoe of Atlanta Georgia Estate, at the cost of twenty thousand cedis in 2002, is said to have re-sold the land to the other person at a higher price, when he got wind of the information that, the estate developer had left the shores of the country to the United States. I came back from the States only to be told by him (Nana Banafo) that, he would replace the land, because he has sold it to another person, Nana Baffoe told this reporter. I waited several months and year, but all to no avail, he said, adding that, he even consulted other individuals to speak to the Chief to rescind his decision and give him back the fifty plots of land which was sold to him before he left Ghanas, but all to no avail. According to Nana Baffoe, he first took the issue to the Regional Crime Officer in the Greater Accra Region to resolve the impasse, adding that, several attempts to replace his land by Nana Banafo II proved futile. We even took the issue to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Center to resolve it but that also proved futile as Nana Banafo proved adamant to release the said fifty plots of land to the United State based investor. Nana Banafo II, who doubles as a prisons Officer, has refuse to give me my land, he said. Unfazed about the issue and determined to get his land back, Nana Baffoe took the issue to the Cocoa Affairs Court 4, for settlement. The new independent leant that, on their first appearance in Court, the Chief, Nana Banafo II, came with the Adontenhene of Awutu Bereku Traditional Area, to plead with the court, presided over by Justice John Bosco Nabrasi, to allow them to settle the issue out of Court. The judge accordingly gave the accused person (Nana Banafo II) one month to settle the issue and subsequently report back to the Court. Angry Nana Baffoe, pointed out that, the Chief, Nana Banafo II, promised to give him eighty plots of land as compensation for the fifty he sold and for delaying and intended project. He however called for a peaceful settlement between them to enable him go about his business as an investor in an atmosphere devoid of confrontation. Meanwhile, the Circuit Court presided over by Justice M.E. Essandor and which is hearing the case yesterday granted anther two-weeks leave to Nana Banafo to ensure that, he provides Nana Baffoe the agreed plots of land. This was after the former had pleaded with the Court to give him the 80 plots of land to the latter, but the Court said, the one month being pleaded, was too long and instead decided to grant him two weeks.
