I Played Sammy Awukus "Tape" To Deter Others - Alhassan Suhuyini

Radio Gold presenter Alhassan Suhuyini has described the NPPs denial of Sammy Awukus alleged tape as a political grandstanding to save Sammy Awuku from custodial sentence. I think they are aware that Sammy Awuku is the one on the tape and they are afraid that because he was last cautioned by the Supreme Court, if this is given the mileage that it deserves by the media, the Supreme Court may pay attention to it just like the other cases and invite him to the Supreme Court he said. Lawyers for Sammy Awuku have indicated that they would sue any media house that has played the tape which according to them, seeks to tarnish his image. But speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Alhassan Suhuyini who confirmed that he has not received any summons said the threats are an indication that they (NPP) want the media to stop playing the tape. According to him, his intention for playing the tape was to draw attention to what is unacceptable in order to deter others. Mr. Suhuyini gave instances where other tapes had been played in the same vain to deter other politicians to be mindful of what they say. Our intention is not to take anybody to prison but our intention is to make sure that our politicians become more guided and more responsible whether they are speaking in public or in their bedroom especially when they are discussing national issues he said. He questioned what the NPP meant when there issued a press statement stating that the tape had been doctored. According to him, the doctoring of a tape means the tape exists, and the person speaking on the tape is the one, but maybe it has been cut in a way just to misrepresent the person. He also said he is ready to defend himself because his conscience is clear.
