MASLOC Report To Be Released Soon-Minister

Government will soon make both public its report into allegations of fraud leveled against the former Chief Executive of the Microfinance and small Loans Center (MASLOC), Bertha Sogah. The committee set up to look into the matter early on submitted its findings to the office of the president. Investigations into the matter begun in April this year after the former CEO was accused of diverting about GH500, 000 belonging to MASLOC to a microfinance company called Amisgold Microfinance Service Limited which is believed to belong to husband of Madam Bertha Sogah. Bertha Sogah has since been directed to proceed on leave to pave the way for investigations into the allegations. Information Minister, Mahama Ayariga disclosed to The Weekend Globe business that the committee set dealt with all questions raised on the transaction made and a decision will be taken soon. Meanwhile MASLOC will commence the distribution of loans to victims of the Kantamanto fire disaster from next week. MASLOC has begun disbursing loans at an interest of 2 percent to traders who were affected at the Makola number 2 market. A total of about six thousand victims from both markets have applied for the loans. Spokesperson for MASLOC Mustapha Abubakar told The Weekend Globe business, in all will disburse three million cedis of affected victims of both markets. A huge chunk of this amount is expected to be received by traders in Kantamanto who field over five thousand applications.
