Tsatsu Tsikata Should Apologize - Hassan Ayariga

The 2012 presidential candidate of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga has said that lawyer Tsatsu Tsikatas comment on Justice Anin-Yeboah was unfortunate and unfair because the latter a Supreme Court judge, has a lot of respect in the country. Speaking in an interview on Hot FM, the PNC flagbearer said that the mandate of the judges was given to them by the state and that it is the responsibility of the citizenry to have faith in them as well as to have respect for rule of law. He was of the view that Tsatsu Tsikata should not have come out publicly to criticize the voting pattern of Justice Anin-Yeboah; stressing that Tsatsu Tsikatas statement was not a good one and he should apologize for his utterance. He further said that it is a known fact that judges are party members but in the light of their constitutional duties, it will be wrong for them (judges) to display their partisan colors in their ruling; reiterating that it is wrong for Tsatsu to tag any of the judges to any political party in this case in order not to create doubt about the operations of the judges. In reference to the 2012 election petition, the PNC Flagbearer said that the verdict has deepened the countrys democracy; adding that both parties in the 2012 election dispute have done well in the manner they have conducted themselves during and after the verdict. To him the verdict of the Supreme Court judges has given victory and redemption to the name of the Presidency; in that the verdict has cleared all the doubts about the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama.
