Two Police Officers Shot Dead In Winneba By Robbers

Two Police officers of the Winneba District Police were shot and killed in a gun battle with suspected armed robbers on Monday night. This is according to a police spokesperson. The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan and other senior police officers are in Winneba to assess the situation. According to Citi News, the shooting occurred on the campus of the West African University College at Pomadze near Winneba. He said the police were called in from their barracks which is not far from the school to end an armed robbery attack. Kwamena Haizel reports that one resident is seriously injured and on admission at the Winneba hospital. He said the IGP encouraged the police officers to remain brave and not be discouraged by the incident. The IGP, Mohammed Alhassan also consoled the families of the dead officers and promised the support of the Ghana Police Service.
