Horse Kicks Man To Death

AN ELDERLY man lost his life last Sunday after he was kicked in the head by a horse during the celebration of the Sala Remix Festival at Latebiokoshie. The man identified as Ndor Awuni, according to police reports was crossing the street when the incident occurred. He suffered severe injuries in the head as a result of the accident and was rushed to the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital, where he passed on. Rider of the horse, suspect Omaru Attala, a 29 -year-old man who also suffered a fractured arm, is in police custody, assisting in investigations. Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, ASP Emmanuel Bawa, the Korle-Bu District Crime Officer said the incident occurred around 6:30pm Sunday evening. Information received indicated that one Omaru Attala 29, was riding one of the horses used for the festival on the street when the deceased attempted to cross the road. Omaru who is inexperienced, lost control of the rope of the horse while riding, making the horse to jump several times, before kicking the victim in the process. The impact of the accident was so great that, Omaru himself fell from the horse. The two were rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment but Ndor Awuni passed on while receiving treatment. ASP Bawa said suspect Omaru who also had a fracture in the left arm has been charged for negligently causing harm and would be sent to court soon. Meanwhile, when the paper contacted Mr Mohammed Hilan, acting chairman of the Sala Remix Festival, he said the accident never occurred on the durbar grounds as being speculated.
