Notorious Robber Nabbed (Photo)

The police have arrested 23-year old suspected armed robber who stabbed a victim at Ogbojo near Madina, Accra in an attempt to escape arrest last Sunday evening. Suspect, Yaw Evans Ametepe, stabbed the victim, John Ganyo, in the arm after he fled to the victim�s house to seek solace in an attempt to escape being arrested in a foiled robbery operation. Suspect is now in the custody of the Accra Regional Police Command assisting in investigations while the police search for his other accomplices. The victim, who was stabbed, is currently receiving treatment at a health facility in Accra, according to police reports.The knife, which the suspect used to commit the crime, has also been retrieved by the police. Briefing the media, ASP Nana Justice Oppong, crime officer in charge of Accra Regional Operations, said Yaw Ametepe and one God Emmanuel, now at large, hired the services of Standford Ampah, a taxi driver from Ashaley Botwe to Ogbojo, on Sunday in the evening around 8pm. On reaching Sand Fruits Junction, near Ogbojo, the suspects ordered the driver to stop the ignition.The two pulled a pistol and a knife on Standford and demanded for all his daily sales. The two took the victim�s daily sales of GH₵70 and attempted to escape. The driver, however, raised an alarm which caused the two to be chased by a mob. Suspect Yaw Ametepe ran into the house of John Ganyo for protection but God Emmanuel, his accomplice, managed to escape. The mob proceeded to John Ganyo�s house to apprehend the suspect. In an attempt to resist arrest and scare the mob, Yaw Ametepe pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed John Gonyo in the arm. Suspect was later overpowered and handed over to the Ogbojo police post by residence. He was later transferred to the Accra Regional Police Command to be processed for court. Upon interrogation, suspect Ametepe mentioned God Emmanuel as his accomplice. Efforts are being made to apprehend God Emmanuel to face the law, according to ASP Nana Justice Oppong.
