Use Funds For Thank You Tour To Resource Party At Grassroots Level

The act of showing appreciation is noble and one would have thought that anyone who says thank you would praised for exhibiting high moral standings. But a former Information Minister in the erstwhile Kufour Administration has stated the Thank You Tour which has been kick started by some leading members of the New Patriotic Partys (NPP) is not really to express gratitude to the partys support base but a campaign for re-election. According to Steven Asamoah Boateng, it is a worrying development which would give the current national office holders an undue advantage over other competitors and I told this to the National chairmans face. I heard they are going on a Thank You Tour. In my view, the idea of a thank You Tour should be scraped since it is only a smoke screen to campaign for re-elections because the chairman and his General Secretary would be going for re-election and I told him this in his face but he did not listen to me, the former Information Minister revealed. Hon. Asamoah Boateng further stated that there is nothing wrong with thanks giving but there is a motive behind this very thanks giving the leadership of the NPP is embarking on. The former Information Minister, who was also the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman West constituency made these claims on Adom Fm in a telephone interview from Nigeria, where he is currently praying at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). Also, he advised that the monies being used on the Thank You Tour be channeled into organizing the party from the grassroots in preparations towards election 2016. The NPP has started a tour across the country to thank the partys faithful for the support and encouragement during the 2012 general elections and the just ended legal battle challenging the validity of the 2013 election results at the Supreme Court.
