A 32-YEAR-OLD man accused of killing his heavily-pregnant girlfriend after subjecting her to severe beatings has been arrested by the police at Bekwai.
Francis Akwasi Owusu aka Bob Linking, a resident of Kokyekrom a suburb of Bekwai, was provisionally charged yesterday with murdering Adizatu Iddrisu, a Tuo Zaafi (TZ) seller, following an aggravated battery of the victim.
A Bekwai District Magistrate Court remanded him in custody pending further investigations into the allegation when he appeared before it.
Adizatu died on Monday morning and her body secretly taken to the mortuary in the evening by the accused person. She had been brutalised by her boy friend few days before her death.
Police prosecutor, Detective Sergeant Stephen Ofori, said the fetus in her womb was eight months old.
According to him, the victim was said to be in an abusive relationship with Bob Linking for quite some time now, on one of such incidents the Unit Committee Chairman of Kokyerekrom, Kwame Mensah, and his committee members had to intervene.
Though she once previously reported to the police about her abuse in the past by the same man, victim Adizatu was reluctant to say anything to the police and did not return a medical form handed over to her, Daily Guide gathered.
The police are expected to look into the allegation that Adizatu was denied a medical attention after the aggravated battery on her some few days leading to her death as Francis Akwasi Owusu also faces another charge relating to the unborn child as well.
