History has it that the Founder of Modern Day Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was invited to be General Secretary of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), by Dr. J. B. Danquah, the founder of the party. Upon the recommendation of Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, Dr. Nkrumah who later became the nation�s first President, was invited to the Chief Scribe of the newly formed party, due to his organizational and mobilization prowess. Sixty-six years down the line, Ken Kuranchie, the Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper wants the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a party established on the ideals of J.B. Danquah, to replicate the actions of their forbears by inviting people with sterling mobilization and organizational skills like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to lead the party. According to him, �I would wish that elders of the New Patriotic Party go scouting for specific people, to assist them to assume certain specific positions. Because NPP at this moment can do with the capabilities and capacities of somebody like Kwame Nkrumah. Somebody with great organizational ability, great mobilizing ability�..Somebody who can turn this party into a formidable fighting force�. �If I had any voice in the party at all, I would advise them that look, for the position of a General Secretary for instance, we actively look for somebody�.even if the person is not a politician, actively scout for somebody with great organizational ability. Great mobilizing power�. Ken Kuranchie made this submission on Citi Fm, during a panel discussion on "Big Issues" on the race for positions in the NPP. The Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper further insisted that the �kind of work that needs to be done cannot be done by somebody with a weak resolve�. He, however, saw nothing wrong with some NPP members jostling for positions in a bid to serve the party, but called for decorum in the entire process.
