Vlisco Supports Infanta Malaria To Fight Malaria In Kids In Ghana

Vlisco, a leading fashion brand in Africa in collaboration with the Infanta Malaria Foundation has held a fundraising auction to support the fight against malaria in Ghana. The auction, which was held yesterday at Vlisco�s flagship shop at Accra Mall brought together women of class and noble hearts to help with the fund raising. Among personalities present included the Dutch Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Hans Docter, Ms Joyce Aryee and the Vlisco Ambassador, Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan. In a relaxed and exciting atmosphere, the auction was characterized by a fashion show with patrons bidding for specially designed dresses by selected designers. The designers including Poqua Poqu and Amayo Designs offered their services for free. Aside the designer dresses; the Unseen Collection Limited Edition was launched with the first 12 pieces being auctioned. As part of the event, other items in the shop were discounted to enable patrons purchase items to support the Infanta Malaria project. Speaking at the event, Deputy Administrator for the Infanta Malaria Foundation, Mrs Ruth Nylander expressed appreciation to Vlisco for the support and called on all present to contribute to the aim to eradicate malaria in Ghana. The Vlisco ambassador, 2013, Dr. Mrs Ellen Hagan, on her part said the initiative by the Infanta Malaria foundation was commendable and urged all women to support the efforts of the group. She also informed the gathering that Vlisco will soon launch an Africa-Wide Campaign to create awareness, educate and engage consumers in the fight against counterfeiting, which is a bane to the fabric industry. The Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation (IMPF) is a non-profit non-Governmental Organization with membership drawn from women from different countries resident in Ghana. Founded in February 2005, IMPF has a single goal of combatting malaria through collaboration with leaders in Malaria research and through educational and social projects across urban and rural Ghana.
