Whiles the country ponders over the existing security structures in the wake of the Westgate Shopping Mall attack in Kenya by self-acclaimed Islamic militants Al-Shabab, a Senior Journalist wants all media houses and all other public places in Ghana to take pragmatic steps in securing their premises. Ken Kuranchie, Editor of the �Daily Searchlight� Newspaper believes there is the need for some establishments to take their internal security very seriously, giving the fact that they are potential targets for such misguided attacks, like the Kenyan incident. ��I think that, places like these, where we are now (CitiFM), every media house should begin to take its security very seriously. When people are entering, we have equipment now that can detect whether you have certain things on you. Metals and what have you�. �Supermarkets, we need to begin to take these stands. We need to begin to put in place CCTV cameras and other measures that would ensure that when somebody gets into the system with unauthorized equipment on him, you can monitor him. You need to have your own security men patrolling the floors and what have you� he cautioned. Sharing his thoughts on the matter of a red alert issued by the British government to its citizens in Ghana and the assurance by the government of Ghana of it readiness to thwart any eminent terrorist attacks, Mr. Kuranchie was of the view that, in as much as the state is responsible for our security, as citizens, we can do better to enhance our personal security. He gave this advise during a panel discussion on Citi Fm�s �Big Issues�.
