As the New Patriotic Party warms up to elect new and to some extent retain old executives of the party in few months to come, the whole nation expects to see vibrant women in the party take up vital positions. One of such persons is Gifty Afia Oware- Aboagye and she seems to be the only lady looking forward to be elected as the party�s National Youth Organiser. She shares with us the message below on why the NPP needs her as a youth leader. In a political arena densely populated by men, women do not only feel relegated to the sidelines of active politics but they have been psychologically conditioned that politics is a restricted area for the ordinary Ghanaian woman. Clearly, the active participation of women in our national politics is infinitesimal. Elections in Ghana are won by floating voters mostly women and the youth. This includes hardworking market women on the streets Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Ho, Sunyani, Koforidua and other cities across the country with no political allegiance. Normally, these floating voters are won over with matters that really appeal to them. In a country where people, mostly the youth and women have lost hope, trust and confidence in politicians, it will be in the supreme interest of the NPP to elect a relatively unknown politician who will not only appeal to the party's youth but will further draw the masses of unemployed graduates, high school leavers, market women, taxi drivers and the entire youth with no political affiliations to vote for the party. The elected youth organiser should be more of a personal achiever, a motivator and an inspirational speaker than a mere politician. It should be someone who can easily win the support of women and the youth without political sentiments and further rekindle the hope of a better future. Precisely, a woman as the national youth organiser is the perfect and only remedy to the party's problem of youth rejection. So far names are emerging for various national executive positions but the courage, boldness and determination of Gifty Afia Oware -Aboagye is encouraging not only for the NPP but also for the active participation of women in politics. Gifty, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a degree in History,minoring Political studies. She is a specialist in events organisation, branding, a youth and women advocate. She is a playwright and a young poet too.Her expertise as an event organiser can be brought to bare to help in the massive organisation of the youth of Ghana to help bring the NPP to power. A former vibrant Tescon (Tertiary Students Confideracy of the NPP) and student politician Gifty Afia Oware- Aboagye brings on board dynamism, feminism, and an extra attractiveness that can lure floating voters to the NPP. It will be in the supreme interest of the NPP to elect a female as its national youth organiser.
